Upper Fair (Grades 6-12*)

 

The Upper Level consists of projects completed by students in grades 6-12*.  They are those who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in their category and class within their school or district level competition.

The Upper Fair is divided to four competition classes: 

  • Garde 6*
  • Class 3 – Grades 7 & 8
  • Class 4 – Grades 9 &10
  • Class 5 – Grades 11 & 12

The Upper Fair categories include:

0400 Chemistry
0500 Earth, Space, & Environmental Sciences

0700 Medicine & Health
0800 Microbiology

The Region V MSEF Upper Fair will be held at the Humphrey Coliseum at Mississippi State University on February 14, 2012.  The schedule for the day will be posted in December, 2011.

School Registrations must be received by November 1, 2011 (School Registration Form)

Student Project Registration, Abstract and All Other Applicable Forms Are Due: December 16, 2011

Please keep in mind that all paperwork for student projects must be complete.  School SRC and IRB members are responsible for assuring that all approvals were completed PRIOR to experimentation.  All registration payments of $12.00 per student must be received via school check or PO before registration and forms will be reviewed.

ATTENTION:  ALL PROJECT PAPERWORK MUST INCLUDE AN ABSTRACT ON THE REQUIRED FORM AND ALL OTHER APPLICABLE FORMS.  Not sure what forms you need to have?  Use the Form Wizard at http://societyforscience.org/isef/students/wizard/index.asp

Awards will be given to the top three projects in each class for each category.  These individuals and the Best of Fair/ISEF finalists (best overall) will move on to the MSEF State level competition which will be held the week of March 26th, 2012 in Biloxi, MS. 

Additionally, special awards will be given for outstanding projects in many of the categories. 

*Only grades 7-12 are eligible to progress to the State Level competition

Best of Fair awardees will represent the Region V MSEF at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburg, PA May 13-18, 2012.  All expenses will be covered by donors to the Region V MSEF program.
